Since 2012. Built by people who train here.
Two blokes from the boxing world, one gap in King's Lynn, and a lot of years spent getting it right.

Heros opened in 2012. Ben Tansley had spotted the obvious: King's Lynn didn't have a proper training facility. His roots were in boxing, and after a visit to the Peacock Gym in London as a youngster he knew exactly what he wanted to build — a place where boxing and serious strength training sat side by side, in a room that actually felt good to walk into.
He didn't do it alone. Melvin Payne was Ben's coach, and together they started Heros — one gym, two people who'd spent their lives in them.
When Covid closed the doors, we used the time rather than losing it. We gutted the place and reinvested: new kit, new flooring, a serious amount of Gym80, and plates from Jordan Fitness. That's the refit that turned Heros into the gym you walk into today.
We've grown year on year since. But ask anyone here what they're proudest of and it won't be the equipment — it's the community. The facility is genuinely great. The room is what makes it the best.
Five things we won't compromise on.
Kit that lasts
Life Fitness, Hammer Strength, Gym80, Watson, Jordan Fitness. Maintained, replaced, upgraded — never let go.
A clean gym
Not just tidy. Actually clean. Every day. If it's not, tell us — we'll fix it before you finish your set.
Staff who train
Everyone on our team lifts. Ask any question — you'll get a straight answer, not a script.
No intimidation
First-timers welcome. If you've never picked up a barbell, we'll show you. If you've been lifting 20 years, we'll leave you to it.
Independent, and staying that way
No chain, no shareholders, no upsells. Just a King's Lynn gym run by King's Lynn people.
Community first
The best thing about Heros isn't a machine. It's the person on the rack next to you.
Become your own hero.
